Koban forgeries have either circular printed cancels
or San-Ko (shown by arrows) or both.
A certificate is essential, but anything with the circular cancel is suspect.
Examples of the cancels are shown. They are usually in a corner or center bottom/top.

One must watch for telegraph cancels also.
Examples of those will be posted at a later time.
