Forgery See text below Somewhat battered, has a tear top left etc.. This reproduction is mentioned in Robson Lowe’s book by A.D.Pierce and J.L.Messenger: " the reproduction was made as an advertising gift and the German origin is indicated by the word "FALSCH" included in the design beneath the kneeling figure, and the stamps are only known to the writer overprinted in black with the word "FACSIMILE". This imitation is produced by photo-lithography on soft white wove paper, unwatermarked, perforated 11˝ or 12. All details of the design are thickened and blurred and the stamp is smaller (25 x 28.75mm) than the genuine, the colour varies from rose-red to brown-lake". some image(s) courtesey and copyrighted 2000 by Peter Elias www.stvincentstamps.com |
