The Postage Stamps Of Antigua

The purpose of this web site is to show and describe the postage stamps of Antigua that were in use before October 31, 1890 when the stamps were replaced by a common issue for all of the Leeward Islands. Shown are the basic stamps, proofs, varieties and typical usages on original cover.

I have found the subject easiest to grasp by diving the stamps into two main groups based on the design of the stamps. This in spite of the fact that by using this format, strict chronological order is lost. In addition to the two major design types (Jeens Head Issues and Key Plate Issues) there are separate sections that deal with fore-runners (Great Britain Used in Antigua) as well as Postal History.

The overview listing below includes Stanley Gibbons Catalog (G) numbers and Scott Catalog (S) numbers for easy reference.
